Marlene Maier Marsch of Albertville, Alabama, formerly of Thompson, Ohio, passed away April 15, 2024, in Albertville, Alabama at the age of 86. She was born July 29, 1937, in Geneva, Ohio, the daughter of Paul and Anna (Vernick) Maier. She married Andrew Johnson Marsch on June 29, 1957, in Geneva, and worked alongside him as bookkeeper as they built the family business, Marsch Machine Products. After her husband’s death in 2002, Marlene took the helm as owner-operator and successfully ran the company until retiring in 2012.

Marlene was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who treasured time with family and friends. She spent many weekends at the family camp in Pennsylvania, fishing, camping, and hunting with her husband Andy and their children. Golf and gardening were two favorite outdoor pastimes. She took special pride in growing roses and vegetables. Later in life, she loved her rescue kitties.

Marlene was excited for her granddaughter and the upcoming birth of her first great-grandchild. She loved watching her grandchildren play sports and was a big fan of UAB college football; her four grandsons attended UAB, and two were on the team.

She is survived by her son, Andrew J. Marsch III; daughter, Pam Fleissner; grandchildren; Stephanie Fleissner, Andy, Adam, Alec (wife Joy), and Aron Marsch, sisters Carolyn Downs and Marti Gildersleeve; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents.

Friends will be received Thursday, April 25, from 5:00 until 7:00 pm, at the Behm Family Funeral Home, 26 River St., Madison. The funeral service will be held graveside at 11:00 am, Friday, April 26, at Maple Grove Cemetery, Thompson. Online Obituary and guestbook at www.behmfuneral.com
