David A. Mersek, age 80, of Rome, Ohio, passed away Monday, May 8, 2023 at Ashtabula County Medical Center. He was born May 18, 1942 in Cleveland, the son of Joseph and Victoria (Semenas) Mersek. He married Agnes Lambert and they spent their 50th Wedding Anniversary, May 12th together in Heaven.
David worked for TRW in the dock as a material hauler where he retired. Later he worked for Grand Valley Schools and for Sacred Heart Catholic Church as a custodian. Dave was a very hard worker all of his life and had a wonderful sense of humor.
He was a member of American Legion Post 719 in Orwell as well as a member of the Knights of Columbus Council # 5589 and was a 3rd degree. Dave served his country in the United States Army and in his younger years he served as a wonderful Boy Scout Leader for troop 73. He also worked on several building projects over the years. In his spare time, Dave loved golf, playing board games and card games and thrived on “Games of Chance”. He was also well known for making his “famous lemon meringue pies”.
He is survived by his brother, Richard Mersek. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Agnes Mersek; his parents; and brothers, Joseph, Leo and Raymond Mersek.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 1 pm Friday, May 26th at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 3049 State Route 45, and Rock Creek, OH. Burial will take place immediately following at Rome Center Cemetery, State Route 6, Rome, OH.
