Charles Paul Widlits, age 92, of Madison, passed away Thursday, January 4, 2024 at Lake West Medical Center. He was born December 11, 1931 in Painesville, the son of Herbert and Margaret (Dzopko) Widlits. He married Barbara Joan Gibbon at Jacksonville Naval Base, FL on July 21, 1951.
Paul was a 1949 graduate of Madison High School, and then went on to serve his country in U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He was a Member of Immaculate Conception Church, where he sang in the choir, and was also a member of Madison/Geneva Knights of Columbus and a lifetime member of the Geneva VFW post 6846. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and golfing.
He is survived by his children, Charles (Stephanie) Widlits, Jr. of St. Petersburg, FL, William (Roberta) Widlits of Geneva, Robert Widlits of Michigan, Brian Widlits of Madison, Colleen (Scott) Kissel of Geneva; grandchildren, Kristen (Jeff), Joshua (Allayna), David, Alex, Benjamin, Jillian, Andrew, Matthew, Jacob, Michelle (Dan); many great-grandchildren and his loving dog, George. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Barbara Joan Widlits and his parents.
Friends will be received from 4:00 to 7:00pm on Thursday, January 11, 2024 at the Behm Family Funeral Home, 26 River St., Madison. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00am on Friday, January 12, 2024 at Immaculate Conception Church, 2846 Hubbard Rd., Madison.
