Betty Darrow, age 92, of Unionville, passed away on December 12, 2023 at The Sanctuary of Geneva. She was born on May 28, 1931, to Joseph and Alice (Truxal) Jusko in Cleveland.

Betty graduated from Mentor High School in 1949, and went on to become a postmaster for 30 years in Unionville. Betty and her husband, Jim, were inseparable, traveling everywhere and meeting new friends along the way. They enjoyed their home in the summertime with their grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Betty lived a life full of love, and most of all, cherished her wonderful family.

She is survived by her sons, James L. (Leni) Darrow, Jeffrey (Rosalita) Darrow; grandchildren, Steven (Amanda), Stephanie (Alex), Rodney (Rachael Lee), Rachel (Zachery); great-grandchildren, Ryan, Adam, Mia Rose and Cohen; brother, Joseph J. (Mary) Jusko, and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, James Darrow, and her parents.

Friends will be received 10 am to 11 am Saturday, December 16, 2023 at Behm Family Funeral Home, 26 River Street in Madison with a Service immediately following at 11 am at the funeral home. Online obituary and condolences may be viewed at www.behmfuneral.com.

I’m sorry to have just learned about her passing. My deepest sympathies for your family. I had the pleasure of working with Betty through the post office when I arrived at Geneva in 1975. I really enjoyed going to meetings with her. And sometimes when I’m talking about the post office with other people, I tell how Bettywas the last political appointee to a postmaster in northeast Ohio and people are surprised to hear that postmasters were appointed politically. I loved spending the summers in Ohio and being with my gramma Betty. We both loved musicals and would watch Brigadoon and Singin in the Rain over and over. When we would go out during the day she would record her stories on a VHS tape so she could watch them later, I am still impressed that she knew how to set up a scheduled recording on a VCR. I loved to watch her play the piano and we would sing, "Mares eat oats and does eat oats and little lambs eat ivy". She was a lovely woman, a real lady.
