Long-time Geneva resident, Anthony (Tony) Long, died in his home on Wednesday, June 3, 2020. He was 84 years old. He was born in Ashtabula, Ohio in 1936 and was a graduate of Ashtabula High School.
An Army veteran, Tony was a resident of Geneva for over 50 years where he enjoyed being an active part of the community. He was the President of the Geneva Grape Jamboree and Grape Jamboree Parade for many years, past President of Geneva Area Chamber of Commerce, as well as a member, and Vice President of Geneva City Council. Tony, along with his wife Carrie were business owners in the area and supplied computer services and accounting for local businesses over a 40-year span. Tony also provided accounting for Geneva Township, Geneva on the Lake, and Geneva Cemeteries. Tony, an avid golfer, was a member and President of Madison Country Club and often ran and played in many charity golf tournaments in the area. Tony was involved in many more organizations in and around the Geneva community over the years, too many to list. He also spent nearly every morning enjoying breakfast and “solving the problems of the world” with the guys at Mary’s Diner.
Tony was the son of John and Antoinette Long of Ashtabula and was proceeded in death by his sister, Marie, and granddaughter, Melissa. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Carrie, his brother, John (Ann), and sister, Lucille, sons, John (Denise) and Tony (Jennifer), his grandchildren, Lauren (Jacob), Rachel and Bradley, and great grandchildren, Sawyer and Cooper.
Visitation will be 4-7 pm Monday, June 8, 2020 at Behm Family Funeral Home, 175 S. Broadway, Geneva, OH 44041. Those attending are encouraged to wear face masks, keep social distancing and be mindful of pandemic guidelines. Upon arrival, guests are asked to wait in their cars and funeral personnel will assist with entry. A graveside service will take place 11 am Tuesday, June 9, 2020 at Evergreen Cemetery in Geneva, with Fr. Daniel Finnerty officiating.
