Anthony “Amos” Bartrug, age 63, of Madison passed away Wednesday, March 13, 2019 at the David Simpson Hospice House in Cleveland, OH surrounded by his family. He was born January 29, 1956 in Fort Sill, OK to Arthur and Agnes (Gavorcik) Bartrug. He married Cathy Zalewski on July 15, 1978 in Smithfield OH.
Anthony was a history enthusiast and an avid Cleveland Browns and Indians Fan. He enjoyed raising chickens, collecting coins and cooking. Anthony is a veteran of the United States Army and a member of the American Legion Post 601 where he was a past commander. He was also a member of the VFW Post 8548 and a member of 40/8 Lake County Voiture Locale 792.
He is survived by his wife, Cathy of 40 years; children, Tracy (Dack) Gilmore, Justin (Angela) Bartrug, Shane (Krystal) Bartrug; grandchildren, Sgt. Camron (Elora) Tucker, Spc. Cody (Katlyn) Tucker, Alexandra Bartrug, Jayden Bartrug, Matheu Kirschstein, Grayson Bartrug; great-grandchildren, Dresden and Kayden; sister Marlenia (Bob) Cummings; brothers Jay Bartrug and Roderick (Theresa) Bartrug and many loved in-laws, nieces, nephews and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Diana Shellman.
Friends will be received 2-6 pm Sunday March 17, 2019 at the Behm Family Funeral Home, 26 River Street, Madison Ohio. A graveside service will take place 11 am on Monday, March 18, 2019 at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Rt 84, Geneva, OH.
