Alan Van Kramer, age 55, passed away on January 3, 2024, at home surrounded by family and friends. He was born May 10, 1968, in Painesville, Ohio, to Betsy (Trawatha) Rod from Willoughby, Ohio, currently living in Winter Haven Florida and Roger Van Kramer of Mentor, Ohio.
He was husband to Kitty OShea and loving father to son Jusiseppi; brother to Roger Van Kramer and Beth Marie (Van Kramer) Rosolowski; and uncle to several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Roger Van Kramer.
Alan graduated from Madison High School in 1986 and began his career as a volunteer fire fighter with Harpersfield Volunteer Fire Department in 1986. In 1988, he joined the Madison Fire District as a paramedic and firefighter and was promoted through the ranks to Lieutenant. He was also a certified Fire Instructor. He retired recently after 35 years of selfless and dedicated service.
Mr. Van Kramer could be found every July running the lemonade stand at the Harpersfield Ox Roast and donated his time to the arts at Rabbit Run Theater. He enjoyed spending time volunteering at his son Juiseppi’s school and was a proud supporter of his many sporting events. Recently Alan became a certified baseball umpire for the Ohio High School Athletic Association. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 601.
Calling hours will be on Friday January 12th from 4-8pm at the Behm Family Funeral Home, 26 River Street, Madison, OH 44057. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 am on January 13th at Immaculate Conception Church, 2846 Hubbard Rd, Madison, OH.
