William R. Auten

William R. Auten, age 85 of Geneva, passed away Saturday, December 28, 2024 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born April 27, 1939 in Lakewood, the son of William R. and Gladys (Mason) Auten. He married Jean Weber on February 25, 1977 in Kirtland Hills.

William was a 1957 Graduate of Euclid High School and went on to serve in the U.S. Marine Corps. He retired as a Security Officer for Lincoln Electric after 25 years. He enjoyed gardening and sports, including the Indians and Browns and was a Member of Geneva First United Methodist Church. He was a proud winner of the Geneva Grape Jamboree Cookie Baking Contest.

He is survived by his wife, Jean; son, Rodney (Lisa) Shaffter; daughters, Susan (John) Hamercheck, Lynn (Pastor Timothy) Brennan; 12 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; brother, Howard Auten; sister, Joan Payerchin. He was preceded in death by his parents.
