William Lawson

William "Bill" Lawson, age 96, a resident of Green Acres, Fla. and formerly of Geneva, Ohio, passed away Thursday, July 14, 2011.
He was born Nov. 4, 1914, in East Cleveland, Ohio, to Euphemia (Petrie) and Alexander Lawson. A 1932 graduate of Rock Creek High School, he served in the U.S. Army Air Corp during World War II, in the Pacific Theatre.
Mr. Lawson was a U.S. postal worker with the Geneva Post Office for 37 years, retiring as Geneva Postmaster in 1972. He was a member and past commander of George Call Post #0124 of the American Legion, serving as their treasurer for over 50 years. He was a former President of the Geneva Rotary Club, a charter member of Geneva Post 6846 and was a member of the Ohio State Highway Patrol Auxiliary for over 35 years. Mr. Lawson was also a member of United Church in Geneva.
He is survived by a son, Robert (Terri) Lawson of Lake Worth, Fla., daughter, Gail (Robert) Devolld of Brandon, Fla.; four grandchildren, Troy, Melissa, Kimberly and Jamie; two great-grandchildren, Lindsey and Joel; a brother, Alexander (Sandy) Lawson of Hartsgrove; sisters, Ethel Orient of Chardon, Winifred Haight of Saybrook and Elizabeth Dann of North Carolina; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, June Lawson; second wife, Betty Phelps Lawson; and sisters, Euphemia Lawson and May Wilburn.
A Graveside Service will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, July 23rd, at Evergreen Cemetery in Geneva.
Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, July 22nd, at THE BEHM FAMILY FUNERAL HOMES & CREMATORY, 175 S. Broadway, Geneva, Ohio.
