Verna J. Scott THOMPSON- Verna Jeannette Scott, 89, of Thompson, passed away peacefully at home, Saturday, October 22, 2016. She was born June 20, 1927, in Bedford, Ohio, the daughter of the late Mildred (Cunningham) and Leonard Holliday. She married the love of her life Homer Arnold Scott in West Virginia on June 1, 1946. Verna graduated from Auburn High School in 1945. Upon graduation, she worked at Western Union in Cleveland. She made her home in Thompson after marrying Homer. Verna belonged to the Jolly Worker's, helped organize N.A.E. (New Alpha Epsilon Now and Ever) club for young married mothers and was a member of Rebecca's Lodge, TOPS, and 4-H clubs. She helped organize the Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, holding most offices. She worked at Dick & Fran's Restaurant, Rosann Fashions in Thompson and Barrys' World. Verna loved her grandchildren and enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles, and needlework. Mrs. Scott is survived by her children, Carol Hrobak, David (Linda) Scott, Jan Spicer, and Debbie (Russ, Sr.) Bissell; grandchildren, Lisa, Angela, Russell, Jr., Cassondra, Ashley, and Zachary; nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Homer in 2004; son, Richard; son-in-law, Dennis Spicer; sister, Doris; and her parents. Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m., Friday, October 28, 2016 at the Behm Family Funeral Home, 26 River St., Madison. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Thompson. Calling hours will be held prior to the service 11:00 a.m. 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions in her name may be made to Thompson Volunteer Fire Depart, P.O.   2. My heart hurts for your family. Although I know you will “see her again” that doesn't help with the now. Its alright to grieve for a season….just don't stay there, she wouldn't want that. I pray that during this season of adjustment, that you will be comforted and will have peace.

  6. I just found out about Verna passing away. I know she will be missed by all. I always loved stopping by to see her when I came back to Thompson for a visit. I looked forward receiving her Christmas cards each year with all her news. I will always remembered her joyous laughter. Thinking of all of you, Carol, David, Jan and Debbie.
