Thomas Earnest Sironen

Thomas Earnest Sironen, age 77, was at home, with his family, in Mentor-on-the-Lake when he passed away Thursday, January 22, 2015. He was born to Angeline (nee Kroflic) and Walter Sironen on August 16, 1937 in Geneva.
Tom had been a Merchant Marine on the Great Lakes. He then worked at C.E. Tylers machine shop as a welder, after which he became an entrepreneur. He enjoyed building houses and selling cars. He supported Habitat for Humanity, receiving a bronze award for his care and effort. He was very "hands on." Tom enjoyed helping folks, and worked in Florida soup kitchens, the Cleveland City Mission, and many other aid related activities. Tom couldn't stand to see anybody hurt, hungry, or down and out. He was a churchgoer, bible reader and an active and loving father, grandfather, and brother who wintered in Florida.
Tom is survived by his children, Lorena (Robert) Simmons, John Sironen, Angel (Ricky) Simmons, Vicki Lepine; grandchildren, Michael Lowery, Ashley Simmons, Katie Simmons, Sarah Babic; brother, Joseph (Rosemary) Sironen; sister, Florence (Elverton) Stone, Frances Zirkle and Shirley Sironen. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Karl Sironen.
Friends will be received from 4-8 p.m. on Sunday, January 25, 2015 at the BEHM FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 26 River Street, Madison. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. on Monday, January 26th at the funeral home. Pastor Tom Fowler of Willoughby Hills Friends Church will be officiating.
Final resting place will be North Madison Cemetery in Madison.
