Thomas D. Frisbie

Thomas D. Frisbie, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and lifelong advocate for working people, passed away on April 24th at the age of 83.

Born in Cleveland, Ohio, Tom spent his life devoted to his family and to the causes he believed in. He was married to his late wife, Marjorie, for 48 wonderful years until her passing in 2014. Together they raised a close-knit family that was the pride of his life.

He is survived by his children: Chris Frisbie (Theresa) of Kirtland Hills and their sons Evan and Luke; Meggan Putzke of Madison and her children Julia, Nolan, and Sarah; Matt Frisbie (Flavia) of Aurora; Tom Frisbie (Renee) of Hudson and their children Georgia and Thompson; and Scott Frisbie of Madison. He is also survived by his sister, Lynn Holstein of Providence, Rhode Island.

Tom was a proud union man for the majority of his career. In his later years, he served as President of the Cleveland AFL-CIO, where he was a tireless champion for the rights of machinists and laborers across Northeast Ohio. He was an original advocate for American manufacturing and strongly believed in the power of products “Made in America.”

Whether he was speaking with Congressmen or Presidents, or sharing a laugh with friends at the local diner, Tom was the same man, thoughtful, grounded, and full of compassion. He had a deep love of history, especially World War I, and was an avid reader with a curious mind and generous spirit.

He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to know him.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 29th from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at Behm Funeral Home, 26 River Street, Madison, Ohio 44057. A funeral service will be held at the same location on Wednesday, April 30th at 11:00 AM. Final resting place will be All Souls Cemetery in Chardon.
