Thomas F. Owens "Big O", 72, was promoted to Glory, on Thursday, May 14, 2015, with his loving family by his side. He was born May 25, 1942, in Republic, Pennsylvania, the son of the late, John and Yolanda (nee DiMichele) Owens. Tom was a 1960 graduate of Riverside high School. He married the love of his life Bobbie Moore on April 14, 1962. Tom retired from the Caterpillar Company in Pontiac, IL as a machinist after serving the company for 32 years. Tom loved the Lord, and trusted him with his life; he was a longtime member of the Salvation Army Church in Painesville. He was also a member of the United Auto Workers. In his younger years, he was part of the Golden Gloves Boxing. Tom was known by most as "Big O", he was a kind, simple man that loved people. He never forgot names or faces, he remembered you if he met you one time. Tom liked antique cars, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. His grandchildren were the joy of his life, and held a special place in his heart. "Big O," is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Bobbie; children, John Owens, Melissa (Doug Brown) Parcell, and Thomas (Margie) Owens, all of Madison; grandchildren, Shire and Eilee Parcell , and Tommy Owens; sister, Colleen (Robert) Roberti of Painesville; brother-in-laws, William Secrist andRay King, both of Painesville; sister-in-laws, Billie Willis of Madison and Sandra (Ray) Walling of Painesville; as well as many special nieces, nephews, and cousins. Mr. Owens was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Maureen King, and Joan Secrist; nephews, Joseph Willis and Tony King; brother-in-laws, Scottie Willis and Ricky Moore; and his in-laws, Robert and Florence Moore. Calling hours will be held on Monday, May 18, 2015 from 6-8 PM at the Behm Family Funeral Home, 26 River St., Madison. A private burial will take place at Fairview Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
