Susan Conrad

Susan Conrad, age 62, of Madison, Ohio was surrounded by her family when she passed away Sunday, October 23, 2016 at home. She was born December 10, 1953 in Washington D.C. to Thomas Hamilton Lewis IV and Jeannette (Owen) Lewis. She married Howard Conrad in Charleston, SC on February 6, 1974.
Susan graduated from Winston Churchill High School, Potomac, MD, in 1972 and then enlisted in the Naval Reserves and became a Radioman. She loved playing Bridge, sewing counted cross stitch, and preparing home cooked meals. Susan enjoyed art and liked to paintuntil the kids came along and always got into the oil paints. She had high expectations for her children, and would say, "if that's the best you can doWONDERFUL, but if you know you can do betterthen you better do it!" Susan had an incredible presence, and one always knew her opinions. She loved and cherished her children and was their greatest advocate.
Susan is survived by her loving husband of 42 years, Howard; children, Jeannette (Jeffery) Wilson, Charlotte (Blake) Knisely, Robert (Megan) Conrad; grandchildren, James, Brittney, Anthony, Lauren, Cadence, Charles, Annabeth, Emma, William; siblings, Patty Lewis, Thomas H. Lewis V, and Robert T. Lewis. She is predeceased by her parents.
Visitation will be 10am to 12pm Saturday, Oct. 29, 2016 at The Behm Family Funeral Home, 26 River St., Madison OH, 44057. Funeral service will follow at 12 pm. Final resting place will be North Madison Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, friends may make donations to PSP.org in Susan's name.

Susan and I were very close when we were young and I always enjoyed her mentoring, quick wit and strong opinions. I recently lost my wife of 30 years so I sympathize with your pain and loss. God rest her soul.

what a wonderful woman we all lost..i only knew susan at the bridge table and through some friends in common, but i always enjoyed her as did her bridge friends..my sympathies to you all..
So very saddened that Sue is gone. My deepest sympathies to you, Howard, and to your family. Sue has been missed by the bridge community these past months – and I personally will miss her from the bridge table and the email communications from her when she was able. She will be in conversations for many, many years with fond remembrances.

Sue, you were such a special person. For over 40 years we have shared so many moments. Without you, life would have been so dull and now, lide is going to be so empty. I shall truly miss you, my BFF.
I am so sad to know that my childhood Bestie is gone. I knew Susan for 52 years! No matter how long or far away we were; I always knew she was there for me. I am so sorry for all who loved her. Her spirit, huge heart, and laughter will live on through those of us who knew and loved her. I know this is has been an unspeakable loss for her family and words cannot express how sorry I am for all of you.
