Stella Ruth Cotrill, age 81 of Madison, passed away at Lake West Hospital on Monday, December 22, 2025. She was born on November 20, 1944, in Northview WV, the daughter of Opal (Cross) and Edward Kenneth Way Jr. Stella went on to marry the love of her life, Albert Arthur Cotrill.

Stella worked for close to 15 years at Shady Acres and Inn Madison Health Care as a nurse’s aide. She had a gift for helping others and this job meant so much to her. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading and doing genealogy research, for her family and friends.

She was an excellent caretaker of children, and her greatest joy was spending time with the precious little ones; she especially cherished time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Stella is survived by her 5 children, Susan, Elizabeth, Jeffrey, Sherrie and Kelley; her siblings, Carol Jean (Way) Arbogast, Wilma G. (Way) Headley, Opal L. (Way) Steerman, Betty L. (Way) Staley, Janice L. (Hoyle) Clutter, Debra S. (Hoyle) Anthony, Sandra K. (Hoyle) Boggs, Robert E. Way; 7 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren, with one on the way and may cherished nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Albert, her parents, her siblings, Edward K. Way Jr., William D. Way, Patricia Way McFadden and James Earl Way.

Private family services are being observed. Stella’s final resting place will be at Madison Memorial Cemetery.
