Sandra Gonter

Sandra Gonter, age 74, of Geneva, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. She was born September 28, 1950, in Mansfield, the daughter of the late Frederick and Mary Kathleen (Haley) Lybarger.

Sandra was a 1969 graduate of Madison Comprehensive High School and went on to earn her degree in Education from Bowling Green State University in 1973. She began her career teaching at Mifflin Elementary School, where she touched the lives of many children. After teaching, she managed a doctor’s office for many years before later working as an administrator at a law firm.

Sandra had a warm heart and a curious spirit. She was a wonderful cook and an avid reader, often finishing a book a day. She adored animals, especially her beloved dogs, and she never missed an episode of NCIS.

One of her greatest joys was traveling with her husband, Ron. Together they made lasting memories on cruises, scenic train rides, and adventures that took them to Alaska, Canada, Hawaii, Ireland, and across Europe. Every trip, near or far, was special to her because of the time they spent together.

Above all, Sandra treasured her family. Nothing brought her more happiness than being “Mama.” She adored her grandchildren, Haley and Jacob, and was proud of them beyond measure. Her love for them was endless, and the bond they shared will remain in their hearts forever. She also leaves behind her devoted husband, Ronald, of 51 years and her son, Andrew (Mandy) Gonter. She is reunited in heaven with her son, Mark, and her sister, Karen Eichler.

A memorial service to celebrate Sandra’s life will be held on September 13th from 1pm to 7 pm at the Wappner Life Celebration Reception Center: 98 S. Diamond St. Mansfield, OH 44902
