Ryan Scott Shannon

Ryan Scott Shannon, age 40, passed away unexpectedly as the result of a tragic accident on July 16, 2026. Though his life was far too short, the love he shared and the lives he touched will never be forgotten.

Ryan was born on January 28, 1986, to Scott and Dawn Shannon. He lived life with a big heart and a deep sense of loyalty. Whether he was serving his community as a police officer, enjoying time with family and friends, or relaxing with his best friend Kylo by his side, Ryan appreciated life’s simple moments and the people who mattered most.

Ryan dedicated his life to law enforcement, proudly serving with the Perry Village Police Department, Madison Township Police Department, and most recently the Willoughby Hills Police Department. Throughout his career, he also served with the CMHA Police Department and North Perry Police Department. He was a respected Field Training Officer, a member of the Lake Regional Crash Reconstruction Team, and a former member of the Lake County Regional SWAT Team. His dedication and professionalism earned him numerous honors, including the Lake County Association of Chiefs of Police Life Saving Medal, the Madison Township Police Department Excellence Medal, and graduation from the FBI-LEEDA Supervisor Leadership Institute. Ryan’s commitment to serving others left a lasting impact on his fellow officers and the communities he proudly protected.

While Ryan was proud of his career, those who knew him best will remember so much more than the badge. They will remember his infectious smile, his sense of humor, his unwavering loyalty, and his ability to make everyone around him feel like family. Ryan loved spending time with those closest to him, whether it was enjoying a cigar with his friends in the Cigars & Shields Club or simply relaxing with his faithful companion, Kylo, who was always by his side. Ryan’s friendships ran deep, and his presence made every gathering a little brighter. He cherished his family and was a loving father, son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, partner, and friend. The love he gave so freely will remain in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him.

Ryan is survived by his beloved son, Noah Shannon; his parents, Scott and Dawn Shannon; his sister, Brandi (Jesse) Selby; his nieces and nephews, Cody and Hannah White, Dalton Kraynik, Maya, Brody, and Nina Selby; his girlfriend, Brooke Daughters, and her children, Emeri and Maverick; his faithful companion, Kylo; along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, fellow officers, and countless friends whose lives are better because they knew him.

Ryan was preceded in death by his grandparents, John and Marlene Shannon, Cindy and Ron Parker, William Brozak, and his uncles, Mark Brozak and Gregory Shannon.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Ryan’s life on Thursday, July 23, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Behm Family Funeral Home, 26 River Street, Madison. A funeral service will be held on Friday, July 24, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at Lifeline Church, 5236 Middle Ridge Rd, Madison, OH, with burial to follow at Fairview Cemetery.
