  1. ‘Bert~
We shared some wild and crazy times at CMU. Never forget our first exposure to each other as roommates. Me as a freshman and you as a grad student. You taught me a lot about politics (Nixon Countdown Calendar on our wall) and music, introducing me to the Outlaws and “Green Grass & High Tides” whose lyrics could define your psyche so well: “ Those who don’t believe me
Find your souls and set them free
Those who do, believe and love
This time will be your key
Time and time again I’ve thanked them
    For a piece of mind
    They helped me find myself
Amongst the music and the rhyme
    That enchants you there”…
You and I drifted but never lost touch as we would connect around holidays when we were in the same state or country.

This was a surprise to me and left me feeling melancholy for lack of a better word. I am sure you will do well wherever it is your soul lands- stay as cool as you were here on earth and perhaps we will reconnect down the road. I hope so. Thanks for being there for me from my freshman year, as my Best Man at our wedding, as a fellow participant in our Thanksgiving Day football games and as a sounding board when and wherever it might be.
    RIP PHIL 😎

  2. Oh, Philbert, too young, too young! Looks like you lived it to the fullest. May the road rise up to meet you, and may the sun shine warm upon your face. Condolences to the Pitkin Family.
