Margaret "Peggy" Spangler

Margaret "Peggy" Spangler, age 87, of West Farmington passed away Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at Blossom Hill Care Center in Huntsburg. She was born on August 15, 1927 in Akron, OH the daughter of Ida Mae (nee Lovell) and Raymond Lydic. She married William M. Spangler in Stow, OH on June 14, 1957.
Peggy was a 1945 graduate of South High School in Akron and a 1955 graduate of Harding College, in Searcy, Arkansas. She was teaching 4th grade when she met her husband. Peggy worked at Firestone Tire & Rubber in Akron for many years as well as Eaton Corp. in Cleveland. Peggy was active in Church Women United. She was a member of the League of Women's Voters and also volunteered for Meals on Wheels. Peggy enjoyed tutoring at State Street School in Painesville. She was an active member at Mentor Christian Church while her husband was the pastor.
Peggy's passions included a love for gardening and a love for people.
Margaret is survived by her husband, William M. Spangler; daughter, Elaine (Mike) Mastromatteo of Bristolville; son, Clinton (Pam) Spangler of Mentor; grandchildren, Rielle (Richard) Wright and Tony Mastromatteo; Amelia and Graham Spangler, 3 great-grandchildren; sisters, Kathleen Hausman of Medina, and Jean Buettner of Akron.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Robert Lydic.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1 p.m. on Sunday, March 8, 2015 at Mentor Christian Church, 8751 Mentor Avenue, in Mentor. Pastor Cheryl Delaney will be officiating. Memorial gifts may be made to Church World Service, www.cwsglobal.org or Bread for Life at www.bread.org.
A private graveside service will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Painesville.
