Lewis Deo Crandall

Lewis Deo Crandall, age 86, of Thompson, Ohio, passed away Saturday, May 20, 2017 at Altercare of Mentor. He was born December 27, 1930 in Painesville to Paul and Janette (Greenlee) Crandall. He married Barbara Edy in Geneva, Ohio on October 24, 1952.
Lew graduated from Thompson High School in 1948 and served in the US Navy. He grew up in the Crandall Ford family business, which has served the area for 75 years. Lew worked alongside his uncle where customers were treated like family. A great passion of Lew's was flying; he was a private pilot and truly enjoyed taking friends out to dinner via his airplane. He also loved to golf and ride his motorcycle.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Barbara; son, Michael (Becky), daughter, Kim (Bill) Brucken, son, Steven (Elizabeth) Crandall. Grandchildren, Stephanie (Tad) Davis, Briana (Bill) McKinney, Jordan (Casey), Jessica, Jacob Crandall, Emily (Gabe) Gradinaru, Charlotte (David) Schermerhorn, Margaret, Paul, Mark, Caroline, Jonathan, Andrew, Harriet, Audrey Crandall. Great-grandchildren, Madelyn, Judah, Ruth Davis, Arianna, Gabe McKinney.; and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Keith Crandall and Dick Crandall.
Friends will be received 5 8 p.m., Friday, June 2, 2017 at the Leroy Community Chapel, 12920 Painesville Warren Rd., Painesville, OH. A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 3, 2017 at the Leroy Community Chapel. Final Resting Place will be Maple Grove Cemetery in Thompson.

The family wants to thank the nurses, faithful aides and staff at Hospice and Altercare of Mentor for their kindness and care for Lew.
