Karl Pearson

Karl Pearson, Age 58, of Ashtabula, Ohio, passed away Sunday, August 21, 2011 at home. Born May 24, 1953, in Painesville, to Winifred L. (Duncan) & Karl A.E. Pearson Karl was a sports writer for the Star Beacon for over 34 years. He was a 1971 graduate of Madison High School and a 1976 graduate of Cleveland State University. Karl was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Perry where he taught Sunday school and was a proud member of the choir. He spent decades working at Camp Koinonia, where he was camp director for 20 years and a member of the Board of Directors. He was a member of the Ashtabula County Basketball Foundation Hall of Fame, Ashtabula County Football Hall of Fame, Ashtabula Bowling Hall of Fame and the Northeast District Media Hall of Fame for his writing. He is survived by Sister, Faith Pearson of Ashtabula; Brother, James E. (Mary Lou) Pearson of Eastlake, OH; Niece, Tabitha Pearson of Ashtabula; Nephew, Cody Henderson of Ashtabula. He was preceded in death by his Parents; Sisters, Sonja & Beverly Pearson Friends will be received 1-3 & 5-8 PM Wednesday, August 24, 2011, at First Baptist Church of Perry, 3918 Main Street, Perry, Ohio. Funeral Service will be 11:00 AM Thursday, August 25, 2011 at the church with Rev. Michael Cole officiating. Final Resting Place will be at Perry Cemetery in Perry. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Karl Pearson Memorial Fund at an branch of U S Bank.
