John Garbutt Sr.

John Garbutt, Sr., age 82 of Rock Creek, passed away on March 28, 2018 at UH Geneva Hospital. He was born November 30, 1935 in East Trumbull to Iva (Mitchell) and Stanley Garbutt. On September 19, 1975, John married the love of his life, Sandra Pevec Pestello in Mentor, Ohio. John graduated from Rock Creek High School, and attended DeVry Technical School to become an electrical technician. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, and he worked at Cleveland Crane and Engineering in Wickliffe for many years until they closed. Then, he worked at Uniroyal Chemical in Painesville until he retired. Most of all, John loved and was loved by his family. John is survived by his beloved wife, Sandra; children, Michael (Tammy) Pestello, Christopher Pestello, Laurie (Allan) Polasko, and John (Linda) Garbutt, Jr.; grandchildren, Kaitlin Pestello, Lindey Pestello, Theodore Polasko, and Maryella Polasko; great grandson, Preston Pestello; siblings, Jenny and Robert; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter-in-law, Christine Pestello; parents; brothers, James, George and Henry; and sisters, Edna, Mary Lou and Mary. Visitation will be 11 am - 1 pm Monday, April 2, 2018 at The Behm Family Funeral Home, 175 S. Broadway, Geneva, OH 44041, with a service following at 1:00 pm at the funeral home.
