Helen Mae Britton, 88 of Madison, passed away peacefully at home February 27, 2021, surrounded by her family and finally got her date with Jesus. She was born July 27, 1932 to William Lee and May Bell (Bolyard) Pratt in Preston County, WV. A 1950 graduate of Tunnelton High School, Helen married the love of her life, Sam Britton, in Maryland on August 11th of that year. Together, they raised two children and celebrated 40 years of marriage before his passing in 1990. Helen was an active participant in her community. She worked at the Madison Senior Center and was a member of the Old Fashioned Days Committee for 50 years. She enjoyed camping, traveling and antiquing. However, her world was made more marvelous by her family, and the very best times included her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Helen is survived by her daughter, Barb Britton (Pam Nigh); her son, Sam (Sue) Britton; 2 grandchildren, Heather (Greg) Welch, Sadie (Kurt) Gardner; 5 great-grandchildren; Izzy, Luke, Alex, Molly and Brody; and her brother, Robert Lee Pratt; and long time friend and companion, Carl. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Sam; her parents; and her sister, Ruby Baylor. Friends will be received Thursday, March 4, 2021 from 4-7pm at Behm Family Funeral Home, 26 River Street, Madison. A funeral service will take place Friday, March 5, 2021 at 11:00am in the funeral home with Pastor Rick Hughes officiating. Guests are required to follow current pandemic guidelines, wear masks and practice social distancing. Her final resting place will be Fairview Memorial Park in Madison. In lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions may be made to Crossroads Hospice, 9775 Rockside Road,Ste. 270, Cleveland, OH 44125.
