Gene L. Smith

Gene Leland Smith, age 95, of Willowick, Ohio, passed away Wednesday, April 1, 2015. He was born May 6, 1919 in Harbin, China to Hal Abram Smith and Eva Voronkoff. Gene married Betty Jane DeAngelis. Gene came from China as a young boy. He played football in high school. Gene served in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the South Pacific. He received the Victory Medal and the Presidential Unit Citation. He worked for Reliance Electric and retired in 1984. He is survived by a niece, Janice Butler of Seattle, WA. Gene is preceded in death by his wife and son, Bruce Thomas Smith. Private family services will be observed.
