Cornel M. Benyak, 87, of Thompson passed away Wednesday, December 17, 2008 Cardinal Woods Skilled Nursing and Rehab in Madison. He was born September 23, 1921 in Thompson to Frances (Mordoski) & Anton Benyak and married Margaret Hiller on June 12, 1999 in Painesville, Ohio. He was the Owner/Operator of Cor-Ben Fence Co. also operated Cornie?s Delicatessen and Tavern. He was a 1939 Graduate of Thompson High School. Served in the 42nd Rainbow Division of Army Infantry in WWII. Served as President in 1973, Color Bearer in 1975-1976, and a Trustee for many years of the 222nd Infantry chapter of the Rainbow Division Veterans Association and served with the Ohio Rainbow Division Veterans. 55 year member of the carpenter?s union #95. He also served as the dispatcher for the Auburn Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed ballroom dancing, talking to friends, and neighbors, and gardening. He is survived by Wife, Margaret Hiller Benyak of Painesville; 4 Daughters, Caroline (John) Hauser of Marionville, PA, Marilyn (Dennis) Braford of West Farmington, Michele (Al) Newton of Chagrin Falls, Ruth (John) Kashien of Parma; 4 Grandchildren, John C., Travis, James & Naomi. He was preceded in death by his First Wife, Marian Benyak; His Parents; 5 Sisters, Mary Paine, Frances Kolman, Emma Lefelhoc, Margaret Borngen, & Pauline Sajovic; Brother, Tony Benyak. Friends will be received 2?4:00 and 6-8:00 pm Thursday, December 18, 2008, and 10-11am Friday, December 19 at The Behm Family Funeral Homes & Crematory, 26 River Street, Madison, Ohio. Funeral Service will be 11:00 am, Friday, December 19, 2008, at the funeral home. The Rev. Mark Matzke of St. Paul?s Lutheran Church in Painesville will be officiating.
