Bill Rhoten, Sr.

Bill Rhoten, Sr., age 80, of Madison, passed away Wednesday, April 16, 2014. Born August 21, 1933 in Lee County, VA, he was the son of Nola Mae (Lambert) and Henry Rhoten. He married Jean Scott on October 26, 1963 in Ashtabula. Bill retired from Morton Salt after 39 years of service. He was a man of deep faith and was an active member of Lake Erie Church of God since 1969 where he was a member of the Senior Adult Group and a former clerk and usher. Bill was a kind and caring man who loved spending time with his family and planting flowers in his garden. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Jean Rhoten of Madison; son, William (Laura) Rhoten Jr. of Painesville; grandchildren, Amanda (Tim) Watson and Dustin Rhoten both of Canton; great-grandchildren, TJ and Chloe Watson; brother, Donnie Bowman of Big Stone Gap, VA; sisters, Regina York of Indianapolis, IN, Willie Jo Ball of Metamora, IN, Lois Belcher of Pennington Gap, VA, Loretta Edmonds of South Gate, MI and Rosetta Bush of Brookville, IN. He was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather, John Bowman; sister, Virginia Ramey, Violet Bowman and infant sister, Juanita; brothers, Lennie and Eulace Rhoten, Jerry Bowman. Friends will be received 10 AM – 12 PM, Saturday, April 19, 2014, at Lake Erie Church of God, 3050 Antioch Road, Perry, OH 44081. A funeral service will follow at 12:00 pm. Final resting place will be Madison Memorial Cemetery. The family suggests that contributions may be made to The American Cancer Society, 10501 Euclid Avenue, Cleveland, OH 44106-2204.
