Benny Lee Grimm, age 87, of Madison, Ohio, passed away Monday, May 7, 2018 at his home surrounded by his loved ones. He was born December 26, 1930 in Mullens, WV the son of Archie Grimm and Faye (Lively) Grimm. Benny married Virgie Davis in Mt. Hope, WV on February 27, 1956. Benny served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean conflict. He flew night missions over China as the Left Rear Position Gunner on a B29. Benny graduated from Marshal University, in Huntington West Virginia, with a Masters in Biological Sciences, after which he taught at Madison High School for 37 years. He loved teaching the students and many of them remember the wonderful classes he taught. He treated everyone equally, fairly, and respectfully. Always active around the community, he was a Mason and Shriner, a member of the local VFW, and American Legion Jay Wilson Post 112 where he was a Chaplain for 15 years. Benny will remain in our souls forever, and will be remembered as cherished, beloved father and husband. He is survived by his wife, Virgie Grimm; and his daughter, Kelly Grimm (Michael) Knowlton. He was preceded in death by his parents. Friends will be received Friday, May 11, 2018 from 10am-12pm at Chapel United Methodist Church, 2019 Hubbard Rd, Madison, OH 44057. A memorial service will follow at 12pm with Pastor Lenore Robinson. Contributions may be made in Bennys name to Chapel United Methodist Church, 2019 Hubbard Rd, Madison, OH 44057 and Hospice of the Western Reserve, 5786 Heisley Rd., Mentor OH 44060. The Behm Family Funeral Home of Madison is honored to assist Bennys family.

  4. So sorry to hear of his passing. Mr. Grimm was my science teacher at Madison High School and I enjoyed his class very much. He signed my 1973 yearbook…”Be Happy B. Grimm.” So cute. I remembered his signature to this day!

  5. Mr. Grimm was my science teacher in high school at MMHS . I graduated in 1967 and even though I had was his student so very many years ago, I remember him fondly.So very sorry to hear of his passing.

  9. If you look in ANY dictionary for the definition of Ben Grimm, this is what it should read, cool, calm, educated, CARING. We've lost a blueprint of what educators need to be today with his passing.

  10. What a great man! I have many fond memories of his biology and photography classes. The kind and caring way he treated me and all his other students still inspires my work today as an educator. So many lives were impacted by his. Remembering your family in my thoughts and prayers.

  12. My sister Reva and I were just talking the other day and our fond memories of Mr. Grimm and biology class came up. I always remembered that he flew in B29's and he was one of my favorite teachers. What a great person.
