J. Lowell Peterson, age 90 of Painesville, passed away Saturday, July 26, 2025 at David Simpson Hospice House in Cleveland. He was born in Painesville, Ohio on January 13, 1935 to Kenneth and Alma (nee Dille) Peterson. He married Constance E. Strawser on August 2, 1959 in Brookhaven, West Virginia.

Lowell spent the vast majority of his life in Perry, Ohio and was a near life-long member of Perry United Methodist Church. After graduating from Perry Schools, his work history reflected his lifelong pursuit of skills, knowledge, and opportunities. Starting on the family farm, then driving truck for local nursuries, and on to the U.S. Army, serving in post-war South Korea. Once married, he became an auto mechanic first working for others, then opening his own shop, and finally as fleet mechanic for an auto parts distributor. This led him to his final career as a computer system analyst, taking night classes and eventually earning a B.S. in Computer Science from Cleveland State University as he approached his 5th decade, all while working full time. This broad experience base made him an ultimate DIYer for nearly any home or automotive project and an invaluable consultant for his sons and others. His devotion to family was his guiding motivation and extended beyond immediate family to a number of foster childern in later years. Always cheering for the home town Cleveland sports teams, the Indians were his favorite. He was a history buff, interested in global events like World War II as well as the intimate details of family geneology. He enjoyed music from Glen Miller to Johnny Cash and sang in several church ensembles over the years. He was an avid modeler, building remote control airplanes and cars, as well as model railroad equipment and structures.

He is survived by his children, Jamie (Camille Kraeplin) Peterson, Ben Peterson, Matthew Peterson, Pete (Dawn) Peterson, and Koda (Gabrielle) Hawk; grandchildren, Madeline (John), Ian, Harlow, Aeron, Jeremiah, Jacob, Peter (Sabrina), and Gemma; step-grandchildren, Caleb and Conner; sisters, Kenna Hauenstein and Jane Brown; and numerous neices and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Connie, and his parents.

Friends will be received from 3 to 5 pm, Sunday, August 17, 2025 at the Behm Family Funeral Home, 26 River St., Madison, OH 44057. Funeral Service will immediately follow at 5 pm.
