Local Cruz-Ins will seem a lot different from now on without Artie Mason. The well known organizer of this beloved past time event passed away at his home in Madison on Monday, July 7, 2025.

Arthur “Artie” Fred Mason was born on August 8, 1946 in Cleveland, Ohio the son of the late Robert and Marion (Vidmar) Mason. He married the love of his life, Vida Stollings in 1985.

He was a member of Iron Workers Local 17 retiring in 2005. Known for his #02 race car at Painesville Speedway where he showcased both courage and skill behind the wheel. A lifelong classic car enthusiast, known for his love of speed, loud engines, and squealing tires. He orgainzed three car shows each week in Madison Village, Painesville Square, and Lakeshore Park in Ashtabula where he provided music and entertainment.

He is survived by his siblings the Beautiful Betty Ishmael, Freda Mason, and Fred Mason; children, Tammy (David) Washington, Geraldine (Charles) Cole, Arthur Mason II; his stepson, Michael Stollings; grandchildren, Chase Cole, David and Emily Washington, Samantha Druggish, Lionel and Rachel Stollings; great grandchildren, Sadie and Kennedy Cole, Katie Druggish. He was preceded in death by his wife, Vida Mason; sister Mary Capretta; brother, Robert Mason.

Family and friends will be received from 2:00 to 6:00pm on Sunday, July 13, 2025 at the Behm Family Funeral Home, 26 River Street in Madison. Participants are welcome to park their classic cars in the Madison Village Square to show your support. A Funeral Service will take place at 11:00am on Monday, July 14th at the funeral home.   1. Artie you will be missed. Prayers for all who knew you. I’m sure Vida was jumping for joy. I will never forget sitting with her at your Classic Car Show. I knew her before I knew you. Play them oldies and dance the night away with the love of your life. I’ll see you both in the near future.
