Burrell C. “Sandy” Culp Jr. passed away on May 27, 2025, at the age of 77.
Born on August 15, 1947, in Cleveland, Ohio, he was the son of Burrell and Eunice (Meyer) Culp, both of whom preceded him in death.
Sandy graduated from Eastlake North High School in 1965, earned his undergraduate degree from the College of Wooster, and went on to receive two advanced degrees from Case Western Reserve University. His long and accomplished career with SOHIO and later BP provided him with opportunities for global travel and years living abroad—experiences he treasured deeply.
A lifelong learner, Sandy had a passion for knowledge and an enduring curiosity about the world. He was also an avid sailor (a long-term member of Mentor Harbor Yacht Club), a dedicated sports fan, and a talented photographer who enjoyed capturing life’s moments through his lens.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Barbara (Manning) Culp; his children, Burrell Scott Culp (Elizabeth) and Meredith Culp Blankenship; and his cherished grandson, Brody Robert Blankenship. He is also survived by his sister, Jeanne C. Cordeiro (Mike), and his brother, Kenneth W. Culp (Susan), along with extended family and many friends.
A celebration of Sandy’s life will be held later this summer. Online obituary and guestbook at www.behmfuneral.com
