Born in:
Carmichaels, PA
Resided in:
Geneva, OH
Tamsin “Tami” Williams, age 72 of Geneva, passed away Monday, April 14, 2025 at Mentor Hills Post Acute Care. She was born October 7, 1952 in Carmichaels, PA the daughter of Floyd and Janet (Cunningham) Cumpston.
Tami had an eclectic career. She owned two art galleries, The Craft Cupboards, with her lifelong friends, Janet Frano and Cathy Koons, in the mid-80s. One was in Madison Village & the other was at Geneva-on-the-lake. She also bartendered at The Wooden Nickle in Jefferson & at The Grand River Manor in Austinburg. She worked there during the late 80s through mid-90s. They were tough bars then. Not family friendly places. Full of bikers, delinquents, criminals, rough barflies, etc. She managed both places with confidence. She was formidable.
She was voted best female pool player in Ashtabula county, two years straight, in the mid-90s. She also co-captained one of two pool teams from The Manor. She won several baked goods awards at The Grape Jamboree in the 2010s. She bought a Harley Sportster in the early 90s & had the gas tank & fenders painted hot pink. She loved little dogs. She loved her kids; she loved her family; she loved her friends. She was loyal. She had a personal code of conduct. She believed in fairness. She was stubborn. She was persistent. She had been in death’s neighborhood multiple times before & had always rebounded until this moment.
She didn’t fit a mold: artist, pool player, manager, boss, biker, entrepreneur, bartender, mother, aunt, daughter, sister, cousin, in-law, baker, hospital secretary, cook, friend, wife, volunteer, neighbor, etc.
She was unique in this world.
She is survived by her son, Jason (Trinity) Williams; daughter, Lindsay Williams; brother, Larry (Ellen) Cumpston; and sisters, Kim Ellis, Tracy (Richard) Spangler.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Family and friends will be received from 1:00-2:00pm on Monday, April 21, 2025 at the Behm Family Funeral Home, 175 South Broadway in Geneva. My mother-in-law, Tami, was a wonderful mother to my husband Jason. I was so fortunate to have a mother-in-law that was as accepting and loving as her. So many people talk about having in laws that are troublesome, but I never had that experience with her. She was very complimentary of me, we had a lot of fun times together. We both loved her son very much. I am sorry that she has passed from this world and we will all miss her very much.
Cathy, it’s Jason. Did you have the shop with my mom at GOTL? I thought it was Janet for both places.
I’m sorry I left you out.
Jason, my sincere condolences to you and the family. It truly sucks that one doesn’t miss another untill they’re gone. May her memories be a blessing to all that new her
So sorry for you Jason and Lindsey….I am sure you will miss your mom for so many years…..I was happy to know you both…..hope you can think of so many good times ……..love you both Renee Nash
