James J. Vernyi, age 58, of Madison, passed away June 16, 2022.
He was born October 2, 1963 in Cleveland, the son of Jean A. (Celmer) and James Vernyi.
James was an accomplished cook. He was part owner of a restaurant in Montana. He then worked for Green Peace and traveled the world. Upon returning to Ohio he worked at various local restaurants in the Madison area.
He is survived by his mother, Jean A. (Joseph) Gehring; brothers, Dale (Janice) Vernyi, Mark (Jennifer) Vernyi; nieces and nephews, Kyle, Madeline, Alex, Wyatt and Sarah; step-brothers Michael (Susan) Gehring and Mark (June) Gehring and their children, Jason (Lizzy), Ryan, Dan (Jessica) and Andrew (Amy). He was preceded in death by his father, James Vernyi.
Friends will be received 1-3 pm Friday, June 24, 2022 at Behm Family Funeral Home, 26 River Street in Madison with a service immediately following at 3 pm. Burial will take place at a later date at Fairview Cemetery.
