George "Budge" Kennedy Rochford

george rochford
George “Budge “Kennedy Rochford passed away on Wednesday, October 24, 2018 at the David Simpson Hospice House. Born May 29, 1941 in Youngstown he was the son of the late George Rochford and Mary Alice (Kennedy) Rochford. Budge graduated from Ursuline High School and he went to Youngstown College. He owned and operated Midwest Printing Company on the west side of Cleveland which specialized in printed tickets for concerts and Cleveland sports teams. Refusing to follow doctor‘s orders and living life to the fullest for over seven decades, for all of the people he touched both willingly and unwillingly, his most proud achievement in life was marrying his wife Rosemary who supported him in all his glory during his heyday and lovingly supported him during their last days together. He is survived by Rosemary of 51 years; his sister Judy (Marshall) Rochford Wexler; three sons: George (Lorie Locke), Michael (Tara Wozniak), Patrick (Katie Smith); and seven granddaughters, Elizabeth, Kennedy, Olivia, Erin, Eleanor, Meredith and Addison. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his sister Carol (Rochford) Brown. Those who knew Budge knew he hated being fussed over and would rather give than receive. In Lieu of flowers and honor Budge’s character we ask that all who wish to participate raise a glass and toast to Budge’s favorite Irish saying “May you live as long as you want and never want as long as you live!” Papa, you will always be missed and never forgotten!! A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 27, 2018 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 2846 Hubbard Road in Madison. Friends and family will be received in the gathering area of the church at 10 am. Online obituary and guestbook at behmfuneral.com

Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. So very sorry, Rosemary. All of the remaining Smith family love you and are with you in spirit and prayer. May Budge rest in paradise.

  2. My late brother Kevin and George had a business relationship for many years at Midwest Printing. First they were in Rocky River for many years and then moved to the “world headquartera' of Midwest Printing on Rockside Road. There are stories too numerous to mention about the fun they had in running their business. Kevin, me, and George are all graduates of Youngstown University, where we first met George many years ago. George was always a nice man with a great sense of humor, who loved his family. i have missed George the last couple of years and I am saddened to learn of his death. I will not be able to attend any services as I am recovering from surgery. Be assured that i will remember George and his family in my prayers. My best to Rosemary and the whole family. Safe home, George.

  3. Rosemary, our deep and sincere condolences on your loss. Budge was truly a unique and fun loving character. Judy and I will always cherish the happy moments that we shared together. “Proud Mary” and the ensuing “RUG DANCE” will be etched in our memories forever. May Budge rest in peace. Judy and Jim Walker

  4. Aly and Leslie now have someone else to enjoy cocktail hour with somewhere over the rainbow. Budge, thanks for the memories. Prayers for peace and love to Rosemary and family. With God’s love and ours, Judy and Bill Callander

  5. Budge was my first and closest cousin while we were teenagers. Growing up on the North side of Youngstown together was quite an experience. Budgie and I bought and sold cars while in high school to get spending money. His father Uncle George was aa good person was also known for fair dealing. Budgie was the same way. It is an honor to remember such a close first cousin. May his soul rest in pease. John T. Rochford

  6. Please accept our deepest condolences. Our thoughts and prayers are with your family during this difficult moment. May the God of all comfort give you strength to endure the pain you are going through. “The day is near when all who have fallen asleep will be awaken”-John 5:28,29

  7. Rosemary and children, Please know that I have wonderful memories of visiting your home in Cleveland when I lived in Youngstown many years. I called Budge a few months ago when I learned he was sick. I told Budge I hoped to attend my Ursuline Reunion and if I could I would bring him pictures of his Father… my Uncle George. Although he could not respond I’m sure he knew it was me. I thanked Budge for the gift of the wonderful memories I have with him, Judy, Carol as well as Budge’s Mother and Father. He will be in my thoughts and prayers. Sincerely, Rick Rochford

  8. My condolences to uncle Budge….. I’ll always remember the free go cart rides you arranged and the beautiful baby blue convertible you cruised the midway in. Sad to hear you’ve gone ahead of us but the memories will last forever. PS help the Browns win against the Steelers tomorrow pleaseeee! Timothy M. McGonigle,

  9. My sincere sympathy to Rose Mary and the boys on Budges passing. 🙁 Our many memories go way back and will never be forgotten. I’ll cherish our days at the lake until we see you again .. May God hold you in the palm of his hand until then!Mary Ellen McGonigle
