Irene Bernatowicz

Irene Bernatowicz, age 89, of Geneva, Ohio, passed away Sunday, March 17, 2013 at Lantern Of Madison in Madison. She was born April 30, 1923 in Greenfield Township, PA to Francis (Wisniewski) & Anthony Domeracki. She married Frederick Michael Bernatowicz in Erie, PA on August 11, 1945. Irene was a member of Immaculate Conception Church and active with the Legion of Mary and Catholic Women's Union. She was an active member of the PTA at St. John's School in Erie, PA, and served as a den mother for several years and was awarded Den Mother of The Year. She is survived by daughter, Marjorie (Richard) Profeta of Madison; sons, Frederick A. (Mary Lou) Bernatowicz of Harborcreek, PA, David A. (Andrea) Bernatowicz of Garfield Heights; grandchildren, Kimberly Doering and Michael Profeta, Nicholas and Benjamin Bernatowicz; 7 great-grandchildren and sisters, Sister Antonia Domeracki of St. Joseph Convent, Erie, PA, Antonia Rutherford of Port Charlotte, FL. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Frederick; brothers, Chester, John, Stanley, Steve Domeracki; sisters, Anna Markiewicz, Lucy Slupski and Martha Domeracki; niece, Barbara Leofsky and a great grandson, Joseph Profeta. Friends will be received 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday March 20, 2013 at The Behm Family Funeral Home, 26 River Street, Madison. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday March 21, at Immaculate Conception Church, 2846 Hubbard Road, Madison, OH 44057, with Father Donnelly, officiating. Final Resting Place will be at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Geneva. Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Western Reserve, 17876 St. Clair Avenue, Cleveland, OH 44110-2602.
