Louanna M. Billington Age 89 Resident of Madison, Ohio, passed away Sunday, February 28, 2010 Hospice of The Western Reserve Cleveland in Cleveland, Ohio. Born July 12, 1920 in Palestine to Leota H. (Gordon) & Marcus V. Olloman, she married Merle A. Billington in Geneva, Ohio on February 22, 1941. She was a Teacher at Madison School System. Mrs. Billington was a Madison area resident since 1941. She was a Lake Erie College Graduate with a B.A. Degree and continued at Edinboro University in Pennsylvania, where she received her Masters Degree in English and Reading. She received two Martha Holden Jennings Scholarship Awards for teaching reading for the Mechanics of Puppetry. She taught grades four and five at Homer Nash Kimball Elementary School from 1963 to 1973 and she was in charge of Madison Schools for Remedial Reading Program (Title I) from 1973 until her retirement in 1987. She was the author of two books, 'Pillars to Pikes', in 1990 and 'History of Madison', in 1994. She was a member of Central Congregational Church, The Madison-Geneva Study Club, Grapevine Club for 53 years, and was a Co-founder of Madison Historical Society. She was also a member of Retired Teachers Association, Round Table Study Club, Delta Kappa Gamma, Madison Garden Club, Ohio Preservation Council in Columbus, and a long time member of International Reading Association. She is survived by Son, Jeffrey H. (Kay) Billington of Concord, Ohio; Grandchildren, Bethany, Bryan & Bruce Billington; Great-Grandchildren, Damon, Ryan, Ashley; Sister, Dorothea Douglas of Nashville, TN She was preceded in death by her Husband, Merle A. Billington in 2007; Son, Jon D. Billington, and her Parents. Memorial Service will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday March 31, 2010 at The Behm Family Funeral Homes & Crematory, 26 River Street, Madison, Ohio. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Final Resting Place will be at Fairview Cemetery in Madison. Contributions may be made to Madison Historical Society, P. O.
