Graveside services for Deborah L. (North) Klapp, 56, of Gainesville, Fla., will be 4 p.m. Sunday at Fairview Cemetery in Madison. Mrs. Klapp passed away June 26, 2007, in Gainesville. Born Sept 1, 1950, in Cleveland, she was the daughter of Ione (Capp) and Charles R. North. She was a 1968 graduate of Madison High School and a Summa Cum Laude graduate of the University of Cincinnati. She earned a master of pharmacy administration from the University of Florida. She was a devoted golfer, lover of music, a rescuer of troubled dogs and enjoyed expressing her creativity through the arts. She was also a passionate Gator football and basketball fan. Mrs. Klapp worked for more than 20 years in the fundraising development in University of Florida's College of Pharmacy and the Warrington College of Business Administration. An experienced and extraordinary fundraiser, she was instrumental in raising the largest gift in the University of Florida's history. Survivors are her husband of 36 years, Jon Klapp; son, K.C. Klapp of Gainesville, Fla.; sister, Pam (Terry) Byers of Madison; and nieces and nephews. Her father, Charles R. North, is deceased. Friends may call at after the service for a reception at Thompson United Methodist Church, 6758 Madison Road. The Rev. Harley Wheeler of Thompson United Methodist Church will officiate the service. In lie of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to the "Debbie Klapp Memorial Fund" at the University of Florida Foundation, P.O. Box 14425, Gainesville, FL 32604, to benefit the development effort at the University of Florida. Arrangements are being handled by The Behm Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, 26 River St., Madison.
