Margaret Ann Eartly

Margaret A. Eartly age 74, a resident of Geneva, Ohio passed away Thursday, June 21, 2007 at Geneva Village Retirement Community. Born June 28, 1932 in Hammond, IN to Catherine (Socha) & Stanley Szot. Married Darryl J. Eartly at St. Casmir?s Church, Hammond, Indiana on June 16, 1956. Formerly Assistant to the Registrar at Northwestern University Law School, Chicago, Illinois; Margaret is known for her love of family and friends, her strong enduring faith and her work for the Church. While a resident of Lansing, Illinois, Margaret was member of St. Ann?s Parish, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, and Columbian Ladies for Lansing, Illinois Knights of Columbus Council. While a resident of Geneva, Ohio, Margaret was member of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Parish. Margaret served on the Altar and Rosary Society, as Church decorator, prayer group leader and had volunteered to support many Assumption Parish activities. Margaret also served as a volunteer for Catholic Charities of Ashtabula County. Margaret always felt that the University of Notre Dame was home. She and her husband spent his college years there courting. Margaret always enjoyed taking others there for pilgrimages and retreats. Margaret was known for feeding the ducks along St. Mary?s lake on campus. Margaret also showed her love for God, the Church and others by inviting people to or coordinating church activities and coordinating pilgrimages to Holy places including trips to EWTN and Mother Angelica. She loved the spirituality it fostered and all the wonderful people with whom she came in contact. She is survived by her 2 Daughters Desiree Ann (Vincent) Reo of Ashtabula, OH & Danita M. (Sebastian) Fiacco of Binghamton, NY; 2 Sons Darryl J. Eartly Jr. of Geneva, OH & David D. Eartly of Geneva, OH; 6 Grandchildren Gabriele, Sam, Cara, Matthew, Maggie her Sister Jeanette (Jean) Murphy of Lansing, IL; 2 Brothers-in-Law David P. (Arlene Lennox) Eartly of Elburn, IL & Jerry D. Mahoney of Homosassa, FL and Many Nieces, Nephews, Cousins & Aunts. She was preceded in death by her Husband, Darryl J. Eartly Sr; Son, Darren S. Eartly; Granddaughter, Angela Marie Reo; Her parents, Catherine (Socha) and Stanley Szot; Sister, Bernadette (Birdie) Mahoney & her Brother-in-Law, Dr. Joseph F. Murphy. Friends will be received 2 ? 4:00 and 6 ? 8:00, Sunday, June 24, at The Behm Family Funeral Homes & Crematory, 175 S. Broadway, Geneva, Ohio. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 3:30 Monday, June 25, at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, 594 W. Main St., Geneva. Rev. Melvin Rusnak of Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church of Geneva will be officiating.
