Joseph L. Vogt, Jr., 89, formerly of Madison and Geneva, Passed away, Friday, February 6, 2015 at the Ohio Veteran's Home in Sandusky, Ohio. Born April 28, 1925, in East Liverpool, Ohio, he was the son of the late, Joseph Lawrence Vogt, Sr. and Elva Mae (Ronshausen) Vogt. In his younger years, Joseph was an active member of the Thompson United Methodist Church. Joseph served his country as a pilot in the Army Air Corps, during World War II. With his experience in the military, Joseph worked for many years as a flight instructor. He was a member of the Experimental Airplane Association, Silver Wings Northeast Ohio Chapter. He was also an active member of the Ashtabula County Antique Engine Club and the Northeast Ohio Forestry Association. Joseph loved flying, but also enjoyed his tree farm and raising bees. He is survived by his daughter: Karen (Michael) Dillworth of Thompson; sons: Jerry (Janet) Vogt of Fowler, Mike (Debbie) Vogt of Windsor, Gordon Vogt of Chardon, and Jay Vogt South Carolina; step daughters: Deb Mason and Sue Kanipe of South Carolina; 10 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; and 1 great great grandchild; sisters: Lorian Thomas and Gertrude McIntosh; Joseph was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Alvin L. Vogt. Friends will be received from 4-7pm on Friday February 13, 2015 at the Behm Family Funeral Home, 26 River Street in Madison. Funeral Service will take place at 11am on Saturday, February 14, 2015 at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Calcutta Cemetery at a later date.
