Dr. Edward D. Hudgens, Jr., Age 90, of Oberlin, Ohio, passed away Tuesday, January 1, 2013 Kendall at Oberlin in Oberlin, OH. Born April 14, 1922 in Grand Bay, Alabama to Nola (Owensby) & Edward Hudgens, Sr.; married Lorna LaWand on June 1, 1948 in Painesville, Ohio Dr. Hudgens was a General Practice doctor in Madison from 1954- 1979 Dr. Hudgens was a graduate of the U.S. Coast Guard Academy and Served in the U.S. Coast Guard in WWII. He received his medical degree from the Tulane School of Medicine. He served as President of the East End YMCA, was a Member of the American Medical Association and an associate of the Ohio State Medical and Lake County Medical Society. Former owner of Erie Shores Golf Course, also worked for Veterans Hospitals in Brecksville and Walla Walla, Washington. He operated Hudgens Haven Bed and Breakfast in Edmonds, WA. Survivors include Daughters: Blythe (Tom) Strong of Tucson. Arizona Melody Werner of St. Paul, MN Heather (Vince) Valdez, Austin, Texas Son-in-LawHerb Werner of Bay Village, OH Grandchildren Ellen Tzeutschler & Laura Carroll Great-GrandsonTimothy Tzeutschler Brother James Hudgens of Pensacola, Florida Preceded in Death By: Wife, Lorna Hudgens; Son, Thomas Hudgens; Parents, Edward and Nola (Owensby) Hudgens Sr.; Sisters, Mary Hudgens, Helen Richards & Dorothy Williams; Brothers, John, Paul & Wesley Hudgens Memorial Service will be held 1:00 PM, Saturday, January 5, 2013 at the Behm Family Funeral Home, 26 River Street, Madison, Ohio. Final Resting Place will be Fairview Cemetery in Madison. Contributions may be made to the church of your choice or the East-End YMCA, 730 North Lake Street, Madison, OH 44057.
