Floyd E. Cumpston, age 88, of Geneva passed away Wednesday, July 29, 2015 at Geneva Village. He was born July 27, 1927 in Waynesburg, PA the son of Marie (nee Rose) and Earl Cumpston. He married Janet Cunningham in Carmichaels, PA. Floyd owned the S. Broadway Grocery from the early 60's through the early 70's. The store also sold work clothes and supplied all the eggs and prizes for the first Easter egg hunt in Geneva that Floyd and his wife helped organize. He then went on to work at Rayon for 18 years. Floyd established Building Tech. Corp., a roofing company, in Nashville, TN in 1976. Later that year the business was moved to Geneva. Floyd donated a roof to the city hall in Geneva. Since the business was sold to his son, Larry, in 1994, numerous other roofs have been donated. The company currently employs over 50 people. Floyd owned Victoria's Fancy antique and gift shop on S. Broadway in the 80's, where he also refinished furniture. He served in the Merchant Marines in the 1940's and was a member of the Geneva FOE Aerie 2243, VFW #6846 and the Masonic Lodge. In his spare time, Floyd enjoyed gardening and woodcrafts. He is survived by his son, Larry (Ellen) Cumpston; daughters, Tami Williams, Kimberly (Curt) Ellis, Tracy (Richard) Spangler; 9 grandchildren, Cari, Amy, Jason, Lindsay, Morgan, Spencer, Zachary, Briana, Kayla; 6 great-grandchildren; many other family members, friends and his faithful dog, Willie. He was preceded in death by his wife, Janet; his parents; twin brother, Lloyd; sisters, Helen Fulton and Wilma Barlowe. Friends will be received 4-7 p.m. on Sunday August 2, 2015 at THE BEHM FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 175 S. Broadway, Geneva. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. on Monday, August 3rd at the funeral home. Final resting place will be Mt. Pleasant cemetery. Contributions may be made to the Animal Protective League, 5970 Green Road, Ashtabula, OH 44004.
