On the evening of March 8th, 2016, Kenneth David Boyd (of New Concord, Ohio) passed away after a two year battle with respiratory illness. Ken was under the watchful care of the Cleveland Clinic and surrounded by his family. He was 69 years old.
Ken was born on July 13th, 1946 in Akron, Ohio to the late Charles LaVerne Boyd and the late Lillian Mae (Weyandt) Boyd. He is preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Mary Ellen Shipley, and his nephew, Charles Christopher Boyd (Chuck).
Ken was married on November 24, 1973 to Marsha Lee Cunningham, and they remained side by side for 42 years, separated only by death. He was a skilled tradesman, graduating from three trade schools, and he retired from the former Cambridge State Hospital. Ken served honorably in the United States Army from 1966 to 1969, in Frankfurt, Germany.
Ken was an avid golfer, talented sportsman, and painstakingly loyal Cleveland Browns fan. He enjoyed being outdoors and puttering about in his garage. Ken was a very private person and loved spending time with his family. We will miss his humility, his wry sense of humor, his calming reason and influence, and his sweet tooth.
Ken is survived by the loving family he created, his wife Marsha, his daughters, Tracey Lee (Jason L.) Fairchild of Concord Twp, Ohio and Adrienne Marie (Matthew R.) Winfield of Chicago, Illinois. Ken also leaves behind his four doting grandchildren, Colton Riley Fairchild, Cooper Owen Fairchild, Maxwell James Winfield, and Olivia Brenen Winfield. He will be in their hearts forever.
Ken is also survived by his siblings, Alfred Gene (Margaret) Boyd, Barbara Blanche (Boyd) McCauley, and Charles LaVerne (Joan) Boyd, his mother-in-law, Beatrice E. Wheatley, and many nieces and nephews.
Ken will be with us in death, as he was in life. He was our rock, and he will be forever missed.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 9th from 4:00 p.m. 7:00 p.m. at Beckett United Methodist Church, 1401 Beckett Avenue, Cambridge, Ohio.
