During John’s stay at Rae Ann he became very good friends with my dad Ed. Sat at the same table for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. He used to come out to me and let me know how my dad was doing and talk to us all the time. I was saddened to hear he had left the facility recently not knowing what was happening. My dad had been asking about him. Unfortunately I lost my dad on September 4th aswell. John was a great guy and he will be missed by all of us. Rest easy john thank you for your service. John Anthony Succi, age 86, of Geneva, Ohio, passed away September 13, 2026 at his daughter and son-in-law’s home. He was born July 24, 1940 in Ashtabula, OH to Mary and Angelo Succi. John married Karen Succi in Ashtabula, Ohio, on June 25, 1965.
John proudly served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Constellation after graduating from St. John’s High School. He kept busy doing nearly anything outside, but may be most proud of his garden, where you could often find him. John loved telling stories of his Navy days. John’s happiest moments were spending time with his family, grandchildren, and Sunday dinners.
He is survived by his daughter, Gwen (Kenneth) Ankrom; grandchildren, Matthew (Marissa) Ankrom, Mary (Nick) Kurzhals, Marc (Megan Dunlap) Ankrom, Michael Ankrom; great grandson, Brody Ankrom, and great grand-daughter, Izzy Ankrom; brother, James (Franny) Succi; and sister-in-law, Darlene Erb. He was preceded in death by his wife, Karen; his parents, Angelo and Mary Succi; and his sister, Carol Rose.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
John’s family would like to thank, and is forever grateful, to the Reserve Care Hospice team. Their care and thoughtfulness made his transition very peaceful, and the Ankrom Family TRULY APPRECIATES all their help.
