Emily Ruth Savel

Emily Ruth Savel, age 89, of Harpersfield, passed away Thursday, June 25, 2026 at Reserve Care E. Care Center in Cleveland. She was born February 6, 1937 in Cleveland, the daughter of Alice (Sylvester) and Ray Olin Aukerman. She married Richard Lewis “Dick” Savel July 8, 1961 in Geneva.

Emily was a 1955 graduate of Geneva High School followed by six years as a kindergarten teacher under a cadet teacher program of Ohio/Kent State University. After 1968 graduation from Kent State, she taught grades 1 and 3 for Geneva Area City Schools for 33 years, retiring in 1995. She was a member of Geneva First United Methodist Church, former member of Harpersfield Cinderellas, life member of NEA, OEA, ORTA, and ACRTA. She enjoyed reading and puzzles.

She is survived by her daughters, Pamela (John) Ayersman, Beth (Billy) Holland; grandson, Cyrus Tenorio. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard; her parents and her sister, Mabel DeAngelis.

Friends and family will be received from 5:00 to 8:00 pm. on Monday, June 29, 2026 at the Behm Family Funeral Home, 175 S. Broadway in Geneva. A Funeral Service will take place at 11:00 am. Tuesday, June 30, 2026 at the Funeral Home with Pastor Pam Buzalka of the Geneva United Methodist Church officiating. Final Resting Place will be at Alexander Harper Cemetery.
