Susanne Dowling

Susanne Dowling, age 81, passed away on April 19, 2026, at her home in Madison, Ohio. She was born on September 27, 1944, in Cleveland, Ohio, to William and Dorothy (Ingram) Lightfoot. She graduated from the New York School of Interior Design with a Bachelor of Fine Arts. She went on to become a designer with Laura Ashley Home in New York City.

On June 27, 1964, she married the love of her life, Bernard Dowling. She and Bernard moved to Lanark Village, Florida, to be close to Susanne’s mother, Dorothy. They bought a boat and spent 25 years enjoying the “good life”. In 2017, Sue and Bernard moved to Madison, Ohio, to be closer to family.

She is survived by her son, Gregory (Laura) Dowling; grandsons, Cole and Gavin, of Monroe, CT; sister, Jeanne (Robert) Lee of Madison, Ohio; and brother, John (Karen) Lightfoot of Dublin, Ohio. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Marleen (James) Moore, and her brothers-in-law, Donald (Mary) Dowling, Patrick (Tammy) Dowling, and Ronald (Mary) Dowling.

A funeral service will be held at 12 Noon on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at Central Congregational Church, located at 71 Park Street, Madison, Ohio. Behm Family Funeral Home is assisting the family. Online obituary may be found at www.behmfuneral.com
