On Wednesday, March 25, 2026, Evelyn “Lynn” lovingly known as “Fi” Rathy, loving wife and mom of four, passed away at the age of 68. Fi was born October 10, 1957 in Cleveland, Ohio.
Fi will be remembered for her warmth, kindness and the way she made those around her feel welcome and cared for. Her house was known as the “cool” house in the neighborhood with the best snacks.
She had a love for traveling, enjoyed seeing new places and experiencing the world around her, always finding joy in new sights and adventures. Her favorite, was walking barefoot on a warm beach, toes in the sand and waves lapping at her feet. She had a vibrant spirit and loved to celebrate life – whether it was a gathering with friends or a special occasion, Fi brought the energy, laughter and sense of humor wherever she went. Even if you didn’t want to dance, you’d end up on the dance floor or besides a bonfire with her.
Late nights, sarcastic banter, road trips, bon fires, flea markets and colorful sentence enhancements were a few of her favorite things. Her lively personality, sense of humor and generous heart will forever leave a lasting impression on all who know her.
Fi was preceded in death by her soul mate Joseph; mother, Martha “Sue” and Lawrence Rufin.
She is survived by her second husband, Kerry “Jaime” Vernon; her four children, Sandi (Jimmy), Stacy, Miranda, Joseph Jr. (Alyssa); her siblings Susie (Terry), Kenny (Sue), Larry; her 7 grandkids; 1 great-grandchild, nieces and nephews; and one spoiled dog Scarlet.
Friends will be received from 5-8 pm on Wednesday, April 1, 2026 at the Behm Family Funeral Home, 175 S. Broadway, Geneva, OH 44041. Online obituary and condolences may be viewed at www.behmfuneral.com

I ‘met’ your Mom through our son’s Air Force service. There is a bond that becomes forever when
as parents we watch our kids navigate military life. We refer to ourselves as ‘Wing Sisters’ and
enduring term because we truly become family. As ‘family’ that care does not only extend to our
military kids, it extends to everyone. We cheer at the successes and also mourn the losses.
I can tell you that I’ve never met anyone who had such a unique and ‘off the wall sense of humor’.
Merriam Webster’s dictionary describes that in this way…………
(An “off the wall” sense of humor is characterized by being very unusual, unconventional, bizarre, or eccentric
. It involves unexpected, silly, or “out-there” jokes that stray far from traditional comedy, often intentionally. This style is frequently described as quirky, wacky, or surreal, originating from slang that suggests an erratic, unpredictable bounce.)
I’m going to honor you FI by trying to carry on the torch of… OFF THE WALL HUMOR.
Love & Prayers…. Deb
I am paying tribute to a woman I never met in person, yet we formed a deep and meaningful connection. My wing sister. Our bond was established online through our shared experiences as Air Force Moms group, including the late-night worries, our first deployments, moments of pride, prayers, updates, care packages sent to each other’s deployed children, and the strength we drew from each other during challenging times. She was an integral part of a sisterhood that only military mothers can truly understand.
Distance was irrelevant, as we consistently supported each other through messages, comments, and quiet gestures that helped us navigate our most difficult days during countless deployments.
I am grateful for her kindness, honesty, and compassion, which made this journey feel less isolating.
Fly high, Fi. Thank you for walking this path with me. I will carry your memory with honor and love. ✈️ 🪽 💕
Oh Fi, I’m so going to miss you. You were such a bright light in this world and made so many people smile. I’m so sorry that you had to suffer. My heart aches for your beautiful family. Rest in peace my friend.
