Robert Karney Jr.

robert karney

July 18, 1951 ~ February 16, 2026

Robert Karney, Jr of Rock Creek, Ohio passed away peacefully on February 16, 2026 surrounded by his loved ones. Born July 18, 1951 to Frances and Robert Karney, he is survived by his wife, Kathy; children, Bob and Amber; and his granddaughter Natalie. He attended North High School in Eastlake, Ohio and graduated from Cleveland State University with a degree in civil engineering. With his love of building things and always looking to expand his knowledge, he studied for three years at Lakeland Community College, where he earned certifications in industrial electricity, welding, and two years skilled trade apprenticeship to rebuild and repair machines. There was nothing he couldn’t fix or build.

He went on to work at National Acme as a machinist, and later, at Perfection/Honeywell in Geneva, as an industrial maintenance technician, where he retired in 2016. Bob moved to Harpersfield, Ohio in 1996 where he and his wife enjoyed the simple life–like homemade lattes while watching the stars, enjoying all the critters on their land, playing pool (and always beating everyone as he was a ringer), BBQ’s with friends and family, relaxing on the deck, going out in the woods with his pups Abby and Kaycee, and watching football with his best friend on Sundays. Family was everything to Bob. He loved bringing people together and hosting the family reunions. His kind heart always made sure everyone was good and helping when called. His sense of humor and strength carried him through a ten year battle with stage four cancer. Bob was always smiling, and even chopping wood, which he loved, until his last year of life. The grace, strength and good spirit he carried through it all, garnered a respect and awe from everyone he knew. He loved life to the fullest, and his spirit, although not gone, his presence, and everything he was, will be missed every day, Husband, Father and Friend.

A Celebration of Life will be held on May 17th, 2026 from 1-5 pm in Rock Creek Ohio during his favorite time of year, Spring.
