Joanne “Joey” Hickerson, age 64, of Madison, passed away Wednesday, September 13, 2023 at her home. She was born May 25, 1959 the daughter of the late Wyade and Shirley (Madera) Land.

Affectionately known as “Mama Jo” by her friends and family, Joey worked at several local restaurants as a Bar Tender. She worked very hard, managing fine establishiments such as Why Drive By, Del’s, and Bucks Inn. An 8 year cancer survivior Joey was a fighter but even through her struggles she was always more concerned about the people in her life and serving their needs first. She had a heart for her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and served Him on many Missions Trips.

She is survived by her husband, Bill “Hick” Hickerson; her children, Melissa Renee Hickerson and Matthew Wayde Land; grandchildren, Natalia, Liam, Bella, Callie, Drea, and Alia Fate; brother, Richard (Josie) Land; and her best friend Bonnie (Mike) Martin. Joey was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Robin Land.

A Graveside Service will take place at 11:00am on Wednesday, September 20, 2023 at Madison Memorial Cemetery on Arcola Road in Madison. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the family.
