Evelyn L. Chandler

Evelyn Louise Chandler, 80, formerly of Madison, Ohio, passed away peacefully at home, on October 15, 2016 in Zionsville, Indiana.

She was born October 16, 1935 in Madison, the daughter of the late Floyd I. and Theresa E. (Deckelman) Brainard. She married the love of her life Robert Chandler on May 9, 1953. For many years Evelyn worked as a church secretary at the Church of Christ in Clear Lake City, Texas. They then retired to Lawrenceburg, Kentucky and then moved to Zionsville, Indiana.

Evelyn enjoyed stitchery, cooking, gardening and canning, and was an avid reader. She spent a lot of time with family, friends, and church. All who knew her, loved her for her openness, genuineness and her loving heart for all people.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Robert who passed from Alzheimer’s in December, 2013; son, Gary R. Chandler; step-son, Robert Omar Chandler; brother, Floyd Brainard; sister, Vurnis Schneider; and her parents.

She was survived by her daughters, Laurie Ann (Curtis) Nicks, Lisa Rene (Melvin) Prince; step-son, Jerry Dale (Deborah) Chandler; step-daughter, Cleo Frances Phillips; daughter-in-law, Ann Chandler; grandchildren, Heather, Megan, Chandler, Taylor, Garrett, Garrison, Tim, Melanie, Karen, M’Kori (Mark), Michael (Jennifer); eight great-grandchildren; sisters, Ivah Roberts and Florence New.

A Memorial Service for Evelyn will be held on Saturday, November 5, 2016 at 11:00 AM at the Behm Family Funeral Home, 26 River St., Madison. Interment will follow for both Robert and Evelyn at Perry Cemetery.

Memorial contributions in Evelyn’s name may be made to the South Boone Church of Christ, in Lebanon, Indiana.
