Benny Lee Grimm, age 87, of Madison, Ohio, passed away Monday, May 7, 2018 at his home surrounded by his loved ones. He was born December 26, 1930 in Mullens, WV the son of Archie Grimm and Faye (Lively) Grimm. Benny married Virgie Davis in Mt. Hope, WV on February 27, 1956.
Benny served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean conflict. He flew night missions over China as the Left Rear Position Gunner on a B29. Benny graduated from Marshal University, in Huntington West Virginia, with a Masters in Biological Sciences, after which he taught at Madison High School for 37 years. He loved teaching the students and many of them remember the wonderful classes he taught. He treated everyone equally, fairly, and respectfully. Always active around the community, he was a Mason and Shriner, a member of the local VFW, and American Legion Jay Wilson Post 112 where he was a Chaplain for 15 years. Benny will remain in our souls forever, and will be remembered as cherished, beloved father and husband.
He is survived by his wife, Virgie Grimm; and his daughter, Kelly Grimm (Michael) Knowlton. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Friends will be received Friday, May 11, 2018 from 10am-12pm at Chapel United Methodist Church, 2019 Hubbard Rd, Madison, OH 44057. A memorial service will follow at 12pm with Pastor Lenore Robinson.
