Judith Ann Schafer, age 78, of Thompson, passed away Friday, July 9, 2021 surrounded by her loving family. She was born June 1, 1943, in Madison, the daughter of Roy A. and Mary L. (Weeks) Wright. She Married James Peter Schafer on June 20, 1964.
Judith was a cosmetologist who opened the first ever hair salon in the Chapeldale Plaza and, later, founded a salon in Thompson, Ohio. Judith loved fishing and boating on Lake Erie, even waterskiing into her 50’s. Judith and her husband enjoyed spending time at their cottage on Middle Bass Island, Ohio as well as winters in Key Largo, Florida. Judith was a member of the Thompson United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her husband, James; sons, Michael J. (Lisa) Schafer, Scott P. (Kelli) Schafer; grandchildren, Katyln, Emily (Blake), Jacob (Megan), Jessica, Alyssa and Lydia; and brother, Charles (Jean) Wright. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Friends and family will be received 5-8 pm, Tuesday, July 13, 2021 at The Behm Family Funeral Home, 26 River Street in Madison. Service will be held 11 am, Wednesday, July 14, 2021 at the Funeral Home. Final Resting Place will be Unionville Alexander Harper Cemetery.
